Senior School STEAM Carnival 2024-25
The STEAM Carnival of Senior School, at Glenrich International School Uttara, was held on 19th October 2024 at the Senior School campus, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, and the day was filled with projects related to Science, Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Art.
Just like last year the STEAM Carnival is also open to other school students who want to show their exhibits and projects, and this time we had participants from Singapore School Kinderland, The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka, International Hope School Bangladesh (IHSB, and Scholastica (Senior Campus, Uttara).
There were models of robotic cars, AI-controlled cars, hydraulic cranes, solar-powered houses and water filtration systems, motion sensors, obstacle-detecting cars, hydroponic systems, human organs and systems, and many other amazing contraptions designed and made by students under the guidance of their teachers. The computer-based projects included rudimentary AI systems, Python games, streaming websites, mass notification management systems, console game emulators, and many other amazing technologies. There were also presentations, case studies, games, puzzles, riddles, cupcake corners, juice bars, make-up stations, nail salons, projects representing Bengali culture, dioramas, puppet shows, and presentations made on cardboards, all made by students. Art students made sculptures, posters, and many other amazing things.
The Activities of Music, Art, and Dance Department organized a drama put together by the students, which had multiple shows, and a live concert and dance programs from 1:00 pm onwards.
One of the main judges for the event was Dhaka University Professor Dr Serajul Islam, from the Institute of Education and Research (IER). Furthermore, the Head of the Computer Science Department Mr. Moshikur Rahman, Senior Chemistry Teacher Mr. Shamim Siddiqui, the Head of the Biology Department Dr. Esha Roy, the Head of the Mathematics Mahua Bhattacharya, and Lower-Secondary Section’s In-charge of Mathematics Ms. Shaila Sheikh were the judges from Glenrich Uttara.
The STEAM Carnival was successfully organized by Ms. Deena Mahjabin, Mr. Thouhidul Islam, the Senior Leadership Team of Senior School, including Vice Principal Ms. Tarana Majid Ahmed, Head of Upper-Secondary Ms. Shegufta Hasan Khan, Head of Lower-Secondary Section Ms. Jesmin Sultana, Dean of Academics Ms. Sangeeta Taunk, and with a lot of tireless support from the Administrative Department, Office Assistants, Maintenance, Security and Cleaning Department staff members of Senior School.
There were also stalls for sushi, fuchka, fizzy drinks, tea, juice, waffles, and books. The entire Senior School campus was filled with parents, relatives, alumni, and friends of the students at the Senior School.
We hope to make the next STEAM Carnival even better.
