Strengthening Children’s Grasp of Science through Robotics   Spare a minute to think about the world our future generation will live in, roughly 30 years later. Are the little ones prepared for the change – for the future dependency on robots and AI? The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is nowadays quite noticeable. With the term being first coined by American scientist John McCarthy in 1955, the concept of AI is not new at all today. However, the recent ability to store massive amounts of data using cloud computing and the increased accessibility to neural network technology has led to the rising use and importance of AI. Now, we stand together to witness the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with AI gradually taking centre stage in this transformation. Hence, all of the tech giants are engaged in a never-ending race to outperform one another in acquiring superior AI capabilities, while their non-tech clients and partners are heavily embracing AI to sharpen their competitive edges. As a result, there has been panic about AI replacing labour; but a more feasible approach to the situation would be preparing in a better way for the future. So, now is the time we must start working on this; and this is where robotics for children comes in. Robotics is considered one of the most significant aspects of learning that equips the current generation with the qualifications needed to maintain a strong footing in a highly competitive, innovation-driven age. Robotics for children creates a gateway to coding and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) subjects, enabling students to acquire applied knowledge in various fields. Robotics is a field that deals with cutting-edge technology, playing an important role in building skills in mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering, software engineering, technology, math, and science. Robotics for children is an exciting and hands-on way for them to participate in STEM programs by building their own robots – familiarising them with important skills of programming, problem-solving, decision-making, and more. Advanced programming and artificial intelligence are now among the most important fields in science, and are closely related to robotics. Consequently, robotics courses are an excellent way to introduce children to the fundamentals of programming. Making it even better, the hands-on nature of the subject makes it more interesting for the young learners. While traditional programming is entirely theoretical, STEM robotics helps students visualise the code they write. Adding to that, the process of developing robotics requires children to analyze a problem and try to fix it as simply as possible. Consequently, they learn to become efficient problem-solvers in the real world. Also, the production-based learning module within robotics brings the opportunity for students to build something that is tangible and performs the actions they program it for. This combines skills in creativity, engineering and technology – a combination quite rarely achieved. Robotics is a multidisciplinary field that extends beyond mastering just electronics and programming. It mainly involves developing technology-enabled solutions for everyday problems that we face in our daily lives. Hence, many schools are introducing robotics as a part of their curriculum. In collaboration with STEMROBO Technologies Pvt. Ltd, the Glenrich School Dhaka launched the Robotics and AI Club in November 2022, to empower young minds to be able to solve daily life challenges. It offers 21st-century students an opportunity to explore, experience and bring innovation in STEAM education, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and helps students gain computational thinking skills to explore how computers learn and understand instructions. Considering the existence of self-driven cars, voice and motion-controlled appliances, AI-generated images and the recent emergence of ChatGPT; it can be said that the world has gone really far and it is moving forward at a great speed. ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্ট ৩.০ মাতাল মাইলস ও ওয়ারফেজ – বাংলাদেশ প্রতিদিন

তৃতীয়বারের মতো অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ‘ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্ট ৩.০ দুই বছরের বিরতির পর তৃতীয়বারের মতো অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ডিপিএস এসটিএস স্কুল আয়োজিত ‘ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্ট ৩.০’। উত্তরার ১৫ নম্বর সেক্টরে অবস্থিত স্কুলের সিনিয়র ক্যাম্পাস ফুটবল গ্রাউন্ডে এই রক ফেস্ট অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। রক মিউজিকের এই আয়োজনে বিশেষ আকর্ষণ ছিল স্কুল শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে গঠিত বিভিন্ন ব্যান্ডের চমৎকার পরিবেশনা। কাল্ট ফেভারিট ব্যান্ড কার্নিভাল এবং কিংবদন্তি ব্যান্ড ওয়ারফেজ ও মাইলস দেশের এই তিনটি বিখ্যাত ব্যান্ডের পারফরমেন্সের মধ্য দিয়ে এই আয়োজন শেষ হয়। দেশের বেশ কিছু নতুন ব্যান্ডের পারফরমেন্সের মধ্য দিয়ে শুরু হয় ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্টের এই তৃতীয় আসর। ফেস্টে স্কলাসটিকা মিরপুর, রাজউক স্কুল ও স্যার জন উইলসন স্কুলসহ দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানের শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে গঠিত ব্যান্ড তাদের পরিবেশনা উপস্থাপন করে।   ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্ট ৩.০ সম্পর্কে ওয়ারফেজ ব্যান্ডের ইব্রাহিম আহমেদ কমল বলেন, রক ফেস্টে ডিপিএস-এর শিক্ষার্থীদের অভাবনীয় উদ্দীপনা দেখে আমরা আনন্দিত। শিক্ষার্থীদের উৎসাহেই এই আয়োজন সম্ভব হয়েছে। ডিপিএস-এর এমন আরও কনসার্টের আয়োজন করা প্রয়োজন এবং আমরা আবারও ডিপিএসে আসতে চাই। মাইলস ব্যান্ডের সদস্যরা বলেন, ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্টে শিক্ষার্থীদের সংগীতের প্রতি আগ্রহ দেখে আমরা আনন্দিত। ডিপিএস এসটিএস স্কুল ঢাকার শিক্ষার্থীরা যেভাবে এমন বড় একটি কনসার্ট আয়োজন করেছে, তা আগামী প্রজন্ম নিয়ে আমাদের আশাবাদী করে তুলেছে। সংগীত নিয়ে তাদের বোঝাপড়াও চমৎকার। এমন উদ্যোগ নেয়ার জন্য ডিপিএস এসটিএস স্কুল ঢাকাকে ধন্যবাদ।“ কার্নিভাল ব্যান্ডের সদস্য শায়র বলেন, ঢাকার শীর্ষস্থানীয় ইংলিশ মিডিয়াম স্কুল ডিপিএস এসটিএস -এর আয়োজনে অনুষ্ঠিত এমন একটি কনসার্টের অংশ হতে পেরে আমরা আনন্দিত। আমরা যারা সংগীতের ভবিষ্যত সমৃদ্ধ করতে সংগীত নিয়ে কাজ করি, এ আয়োজন তাদের জন্য নতুন আশার সঞ্চার করবে। শিক্ষার্থীদের আগ্রহ এবং স্কুলের আয়োজন – এককথায় অভিভূত হওয়ার মতো। আমরা এ আয়োজনের অংশ হতে পেরে আনন্দিত। উল্লেখ্য, ডিপিএস এসটিএস রক ফেস্টের প্রথম আসর ২০১৯ সালে এবং দ্বিতীয় আসর ২০২০ সালে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। মাঝে কোভিড-১৯ মহামারির কারণে আয়োজনটি বন্ধ ছিল। এই রক ফেস্টের পূর্ববর্তী দুই সংস্করণে ঢাকা থেকে প্রায় দুই হাজারেরও বেশি শিক্ষার্থী, অভিভাবক ও রকপ্রেমীরা অংশগ্রহণ করে।

Glenrich launches early Years Programme 2.0 Glenrich School Dhaka has just introduced its Early Years Programme (EYP) 2.0 through an exciting launch event on Saturday, in the junior section. Through this advanced programme, Glenrich is offering the most exceptional futuristic features in the pre-primary section, says a press release. At the launching event of Early Years Programme (EYP) 2.0, parents got the exclusive opportunity to listen to Abigail Barnett, an early-year expert from the UK and Sadman Sadik, an education expert from Bangladesh.  There were a lot of exciting games and entertainment for children and parents attending the event. In addition, parents got the special opportunity to avail of an exclusive offer on admission and daycare in the day-long EYP 2.0 launching event. The Early Years Programme (EYP) 2.0 houses a daycare facility to provide all-around support for working parents, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and play. The EYP 2.0 programme also comprises a speech and drama programme to boost necessary skills. Glenrich School Dhaka Celebrates “Boichitre Bangla 1429” by The Daily Star The Junior Section of Glenrich School Dhaka, arranged the daylong ‘Boichitre Bangla 1429′ programme on Saturday February 18, to celebrate the true essence of Bangla language, tradition & cultural heritage. The grand celebration enabled the students to get in-depth exposure to our rich Bangla culture and history so that they grow to love and value Bangla more. The month of February or Falgun is significant for Bangladeshi people as it marks a day of great sacrifice for the love of our mother tongue. The children of today should know the history of our people who established Bangla as our national language by sacrificing their lives. An Ekushey Art competition was arranged so that the students could immerse themselves in art to depict the “Mother Language Day” theme beautifully. Also, an on-stage Bangla cultural show, students’ presentations in the Bangla classrooms, a delicious “Bangla winter pitha” festival, and Bangla exhibitions to showcase Bangladeshi artifacts, traditional attire, jewelry, and handicrafts were arranged on different floors of the school. The students played Kabadi (locally also known as Ha-Du-Du), which is our national sport. The programme was really exceptional in every way, as it showcased each and every aspect of our Bangla language and culture, and the parents, students, teachers, and staff all enjoyed it together.
