Math Lab

An interactive math lab by mathbuddy

Often perceived as a difficult subject by many students due to its abstract nature, Mathematics comes to life at GIS Math lab which is powered by MathBuddy. With a unique blend of Hands-on learning, Pictorial Reinforcements and abstract problem-solving Math lab enable students to overcome the fear of sums and discover the joy of Mathematics!

The mathematics laboratory is a place where students can experiment and explore teaching and learning material. It is a place where one can find a collection of games, puzzles and manipulatives which help bring abstract concepts to 4-dimensional reality.

The Materials are meant to be used both by the students on their own and with their teacher to explore the world of mathematics, to discover, learn and develop an interest in mathematics. The activities create interest among and test some of their ideas, and beliefs about Mathematics.

The activities in the Math lab shall be appealing to a wide range of students, of different ages and varying Mathematical proficiency. While the initial appeal is broad-based, the level of engagement of different individuals may vary.

The Math lab provides an opportunity for the students to discover Mathematics through doing. Many of the activities present a problem or a challenge, with the possibility of generating further challenges and problems. The activities help students to visualize, manipulate and reason. They provide the opportunity to make conjectures and test them, and to generalize observed patterns. They create a context for students to attempt to prove their conjectures.

Mathlab activities are supported by visually appealing and digitally rich content for students. The Math concepts then are reinforced with the use of online Learning Management System where teachers assign a number of exercises for students to practice and solve.
