Declaration Notice At Glenrich School Dhaka, we have always given paramount importance to the overall physical and psychological well-being of our students. With this continuing effort, it is our great pleasure to announce that we are bringing in iAmMotherly SEL LAB to our school for students who are aged between 6-12 years old. iAmMotherly SEL LAB is a continuous research backed effort of iAmMotherly under the United Nations SDG Goal 4.7, to adopt Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs in Bangladeshi Schools. Social emotional learning (SEL) is a methodology that helps students of all ages to better comprehend their emotions, to feel those emotions fully, and demonstrate empathy for others. These learned behaviors are then used to help students make positive, responsible decisions; create frameworks to achieve their goals, and build positive relationships with others. Research shows that social-emotional skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, self-regulation, impulse control, empathy etc., help improve academic results, equip students with essential 21st century skills, reduce negative social behaviors like bullying, and create a positive classroom environment. Advanced countries around the world have already incorporated SEL in their regular curriculum. Through iSEL LAB, iAmMotherly will be providing global standard SEL curriculum for our students as well as specialized trainings for our teachers who teach students whose age range from 6-12 years. Parents will also get access to a lot of workshops, seminars organized by iAmMotherly. It is our belief that this initiative will equip our school with the skills necessary to develop socially and emotionally competent students, equipped to perform better in every aspect of life. What Parents need to do: We will be starting the implementation of the program from start of November. Before that, we need all parents who have 6-12 years old children to take part in the Baseline EQ Assessment designed by iAmMotherly. This will ensure we understand where our children are in terms of their emotional & logical brain development and put more focus where needed. We will be having follow-up assessments every quarter. In phase 1, we are implementing this program for the students of Grade 1 – Grade 5. All students taking part in the Baseline assessment and the follow-up assessments during the academic year, will get a Participatory Certificate from iAmMotherly at the end of the Academic year for being a pupil of the SEL LAB initiative. DPS Psychosocial Helpline Service Started
DPS Psychosocial Helpline Service Dear all, At Glenrich School Dhaka, students’ physical and mental health is given paramount importance. We leave no stone unturned to ensure our students get the best help and support to remain physically and mentally fit. We have initiated a physical fitness test and guidance system which will benefit all our students. Our pastoral counsellors are working hard to create necessary awareness of mental health and offer all the support to needy students. Continuing our efforts to support our students, we are launching our first-ever psychosocial response helpline for its students and parents which will be even after school hours. They can reach out for support any time of the day by sending an email or dropping texts through WhatsApp. Our in-house psychologists, Ms Sumaya Afrin and Ms Tahneena M. will respond to the emails and texts within the shortest possible time based on the severity of their needs. The confidentiality of the emails and messages will be maintained at all costs. Please note, the students and parents can call our psychologists only when- -They have severe self-harming tendencies or homicidal ideations and have means for it. -When they have recently experienced any traumatic event, loss of a loved one and experiencing intense grief. -When they sense a serious threat of being subjected to any kind of assault or harassment or going through such situations. Durga Puja 2022 Holiday Notice
Dear Parents Durga Puja holidays have started today, the 28th of September 2022. It was a much-needed break for all the children after the First term/Cyclic exam/Practice test. However, they are suggested to spend some time studying concepts that have been taught to them after exams and also go through pre-learning work, if any. Grades 10, 11 and 12 students are recommended to revise previous concepts from their syllabus as a preparation for their upcoming board exams. Bring your own Device (BYOD) | Grades 5-12
Dear Parents Education during the Pandemic has seen a revolutionary change all over the world. We all have adapted ourselves very soon to the new method of teaching-learning with the help of technology. Glenrich School was one of the first schools in Bangladesh to introduce online classes soon after the lockdown in March 2020. We achieved a great milestone in online classes and further when the school partially reopened we continued with the blended learning. On the occasion of regular school opening, we want to continue with blended learning even during in-person classes. We are introducing a new concept for our students from Grades 5 to 12 named “Bring your own Device” from 20 September 2022. This will be a new experience for students and the school and we will learn the inference for the next month and may extend it to all students for the next academic year. The following guidelines have been formulated to facilitate the Bring your own Device (BYOD) programme at Glenrich School. To utilize the online resources in the daily teaching-learning practice during the on-campus classes, the students will be allowed to bring a laptop, or tablet (without any sim) to school. Cell phones are not allowed. Gadgets will be considered the essential tool of pedagogical practice, so the BRAND of the gadget is insignificant. All students do not need to bring gadgets to school if they don’t possess one of their own. Teachers will have alternate plans/ enough hard copies to support the students to accomplish their tasks. For research work, students can be in a group to share the gadget, if someone doesn’t prefer to bring the gadget to school. Photographing and browsing social media is BANNED from the school campus. Each student should have their own PASSWORD to unlock the screen. Students will turn on the gadget only when they get permission from their teachers. During Sports or MAD Classes, students will be allowed to keep their gadgets in their own lockers. School authority will NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for the damage /loss of students’ gadgets. Notice for the First Term Post Examination PTM Grades: 5-12 Session: 2022-23 PTM Date: September 27, 9am-1pm (Tuesday) Dear Parents, The First Term Examination results will be posted on the ERP on September 26, Monday after school hours (3 pm). Please join us on Campus September 27, Tuesday for the First Term Post-Examination PTM to be held from 9 am to 1 pm. You can meet with the Class Teachers in their respective Homerooms for the time mentioned. Many of the Class Teachers are also Subject teachers, so parents would need to follow the Classroom / Class Teacher list to meet with the subject teachers. To meet with any other teacher, you can ask the Class Teacher, Section Head or Reception Desk. When you visit the campus on September 27, directions and a list of teachers assigned to classrooms will be posted near the entrance and the Lifts so that you can find the subject teachers who are assigned to different classrooms.
